WALPOLE, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis Team picked up a 5-2 victory on Saturday afternoon against Emerson at the Wimbledon Metrowest Tennis Courts.
The Hawks opened the match, securing a sweep in doubles play. At the No. 1 doubles spot
Bronson DeSisto and
Ryan Carroll defeated Connor Leung and Filippo Nocci, 7-5, ahead of a win at No. 2 doubles by
Will Hurlbut and
Camden Poitras, 6-1. At No. 3 doubles,
Tucker Taylor and
Iker Rodriguez Alocer, earned a win in a tiebreaker, with a 7-6 (7-3) win.
In singles action, Nocchi earned a win by defeating DeSisto 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5), but Carroll then earned a point at the No. 2 singles match with a 6-4, 6-3 win. Poitras did the same, tallying a 60-4, 7-5 victory, while the No. 4 match saw
Konnor Collins earn the 6-3, 6-4 win to secure the fourth point of the match for Roger Williams. Noah Mesaros added a point for Emerson at No. 5 singles, but
Nathan Belmore finished the match at No. 6 singles earning a 6-4, 6-0 win.
Roger Williams (3-1, 0-0 CNE) will prepare for their Spring Break Trip that begins on Sunday, Mar. 9 with a match against Millsaps College. The Hawks will play five matches over a four day stretch in Florida.
