KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Roger Williams University Women's Tennis team dropped the doubles point, but rebounded in singles play, earning a 6-1 win over University of Northwestern (Minn.) at Oak Street Park.
The Hawks dropped the No. 2 doubles match, 6-1, falling to Caitly Swigart and Isabelle Sullivan, but the matches at No. 1 doubles and No. 3 doubles went the same way, with the Hawks falling in both matches 6-3.
After dropping the doubles point, falling behind 1-0, the Hawks then earned their first point with the No. 3 singles win by
Ella Mancini, 6-2, 6-0, and was followed by
Gabrielle Petroniro earning a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles to put the Hawks ahead.
No. 2 singles went in favor of
Valentina Abarca who tallied a 6-3, 6-3 win, before
Adriana Palmieri clinched the win at No. 4 single with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Aby Ross.
Izzy Pecora and
Annette Carter each added a point for the Hawks to clinch a 6-1 win.
Roger Williams (13-5, 4-2 CNE) will take on Marywood on Tuesday, Mar. 11 at 11:00 am at the USTA National Campus.
