Men's Tennis: Roger Williams Moves to 8-1, Down Ohio Northern to Close Spring Break

ORLANDO, Fla.  — The Roger Williams University men's tennis team capped off its Spring Break trip with a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Ohio Northern University on Wednesday at Fort Gatlin.

The Hawks (8-1) secured the win behind strong performances in both singles and doubles play, overcoming the Polar Bears (5-4) in a closely contested match.

Roger Williams claimed two of the three doubles matches to earn the early advantage. Iker Rodriguez Alcocer and Tucker Taylor cruised to a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles, while Bronson DeSisto and Ryan Caroll clinched the doubles point with a 7-5 win at No. 1.

In singles action, Caroll dominated at No. 2, dispatching T.J. Schultz 6-4, 6-2. Taylor followed suit with a 7-5, 6-3 triumph at No. 4, while DeSisto delivered in a decisive three-set battle at No. 1, edging Peyton Specht 6-3, 4-6, 10-4 to seal the team victory.

Ohio Northern earned wins at No. 3, No. 5, and No. 6 singles, with Tyler Wood, Kessler Hackenberger, and Sam Sran prevailing in straight sets.

Roger Williams will return to action as they travel to the University of Saint Joseph on Tuesday, Mar. 25 for a Conference of New England (CNE) match.  The Hawks will then take a break from their CNE slate traveling to Bridgewater State on Wednesday, Mar. 26.
