Following a strikeout, Will Florio would draw a walk to load the bases for Baeden Ventura, who would cash in a two RBI single. Luke Miele kept the hot hitting going with a single of his own driving in another run. A fielder's choice followed by a walk would force a pitching change for the Colonels. Roger Williams was not done yet, as they would tack on five more before closing out the inning. They would hold a monster 8-0 lead heading into the second inning.

In the top of the third, the Curry bats would provide some damage control, putting up three runs that came via a Kyle Doolin three run home run. The Hawks would go scoreless in the bottom half, bringing the score to 8-3.

The Hawks would respond with two more of their own in the bottom half via an Owen Hibbard RBI single and a Will Florio sacrifice fly. Roger Williams would lead 10-5 after five innings of play.

In the top of the sixth, Curry added another two runs via a throwing error and a RBI from Kyle Doolin that would bring the score to 10-7. The Colonels would hold the Hawks scoreless in the bottom half of the inning.

In the top of the seventh, Curry would get hot once again, this time putting up five runs and taking over the lead from the Hawks, 12-10. They would tally four hits (three singles and a double) in the process. They would hold the Hawks scoreless once again in the bottom half of the frame, taking a two-run lead into the eighth.

Curry would add one more for insurance in the top of the eighth, pushing it to 13-10. In the bottom half, the Hawks would rack up three hits to go along with a hit by pitch, however they were only able to put two runs up on the board, leaving them trailing heading into the ninth.
