BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team saw its 2025 season come to a close in dramatic fashion Wednesday afternoon, falling 15-14 to Hartford in the Conference of New England semifinals matchup at Bayside Field.
The No. 2 Roger Williams Hawks surged to a commanding 7-2 lead by the end of the first quarter and led 9-4 late in the second before No. 4 Hartford began a relentless comeback. Despite multiple lead changes in a fast-paced second half, the Hawks were unable to overcome Hartford, which scored the game-winner with just over five minutes remaining.
Senior midfielder Emma Terino (East Meadow, N.Y.) led the way offensively for Roger Williams in her final collegiate game, scoring four goals and adding three assists. Allie Shamberger (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) also finished with four goals and two assists, including a man-up goal in the fourth quarter to pull the Roger Williams Hawks within one.
Roger Williams had a strong start, outshooting Hartford 9-8 in the first quarter and converting two out of three free position opportunities. The Roger Williams Hawks defense forced 11 turnovers, and goalkeeper Zoey Cormican (Rochester, N.H.) made eight saves, including several critical stops to keep the game close.
The Roger Williams Hawks scoring was balanced across the roster. Mia Pantano (Reading, Mass.) added three goals and an assist, while Margo Tenney (Braintree, Mass.)and Jamie Anthony (Somers, Conn.) each found the back of the net twice. Miranda Hayes (South Burlington, Vt.) recorded nine draw controls and assisted on a third-quarter goal.
Ultimately, Hartford capitalized on key momentum shifts, outscoring Roger Williams 11-5 across the second and third quarters. Madison Olmstead and Meghan Smith led Hartford's attack, having four goals each.
Despite the semifinal exit, 2025 marked another standout year for Roger Williams. The team posted a 10 win season and went 8-1 in conference play. The Hawks will return next spring on a hunt for their next CNE Championship appearance and hopefully, another conference title.
