Softball: Hawks Complete Sweep in Double Header vs. Curry, Move to 6-2 in CNE Play

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams softball team secured the series sweep over Curry College in their second game of the conference double header. They would defeat the opponent 10-0, leading to a shortened five inning game.

The Hawks were led by starting pitcher Keira Quadros, who grabbed her ninth win of the season. Quadros delivered a complete game, allowing just five hits while striking out eight and walking none over five innings of work.

As a unit, Roger Williams came out swinging in the first inning, plating two runs on a triple by Shannon Starratt and a groundout RBI from Christina Denovellis. The offensive momentum continued into the second, where an error allowed Caroline Thomas to score, pushing the lead to 3-0. Curry had an early chance to score with a leadoff triple by Renee Gonneville, but Quadros would punchout the next three Colonel batters to escape the jam.

The third inning would bring more hitting for the Hawks, as they would tack on four more runs. Thomas would score on a stolen base followed by a passed ball. Following Thomas's run, RBI hits from Jamie Wells, Kayleigh O'Connor, and Hailey Williams made it 7-0. Curry starter Jennelle Munoz would go on to take the loss for the opponent.

Roger Williams was not done yet as they would add three more in the fourth inning, all unearned, due to some fielding miscues by Curry. Wells and Thomas both came around to score after reaching on a fielder's choice and walk, respectively. O'Connor added a groundout RBI to cap off the scoring.

Individually, the Hawks were led by Shannon Starratt, who went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, and Caroline Thomas, who scored three runs and stole two bases. Kayleigh O'Connor contributed a triple and two RBIs, while Hailey Williams and Lucy Maurao each added two-hit performances.

With the win, Roger Williams improves to 15-9 on the season, having won six of their last seven. The Hawks will look to carry this momentum into a road doubleheader this weekend against Wentworth.
