BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams baseball team coasted to a dominant 12–0 victory over UMass-Dartmouth on Thursday afternoon at Paolino Field on Senior Day. The Hawks honored their 14 seniors for their contributions to the baseball program prior to the outing.
Senior pitcher Matt Seminara earned his first collegiate win, throwing 6.1 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out seven. The Hawks' bullpen was just as good, with seniors Ben Emero, Conor Quinlan, and Nick Gleason all contributing to the combined three-hit shutout.
Roger Williams would build their lead in the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth. They would break the game open with a three-run seventh and a five-run eighth. Leading the charge was senior right fielder Ty Cali, who went 4-for-5 with a double, two RBIs, and a stolen base. Senior shortstop Ethan Keeney added a two-run double, and catcher Griffin Ruffner delivered an RBI single in the eighth off the bench. Owen Hibbard and Rory Lynch also chipped in with a pair of sacrifice flies.
With the win, Roger Williams improves to 13–20 on the season, and remains at 5-9 in Conference of New England Play. The Hawks return to action Saturday, when they take on Western New England in their regular season and CNE finale.
