BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University women's soccer team earned its first win of the 2025 season with an emphatic 6-1 victory over Keene State College Monday afternoon.
The Hawks wasted no time setting the tone, striking twice within the opening eight minutes. Beth Yucius (Duxbury, Mass.) opened the scoring in the 6th minute before Mya D'Antonio (Marshfield, Mass.) doubled the lead just two minutes later. Keene State pulled one back in the 25th minute off the foot of Mikayla Ryan, but the Hawks carried a 2-1 advantage into halftime.
Coming out of the break, Roger Williams extended its lead as Julia Robbins (Johnston, R.I.) converted in the 48th minute off an assist from Meghan Goutink (Hauppauge, N.Y.). Just five minutes later, Camryn Dickinson (Quaker Hill, Conn.) buried a penalty kick to make it 4-1.
The Hawks continued to pour it on offensively with goals from Simone Cassano (Schenectady, N.Y.), assisted by Casey Donnelly (Norwalk, Conn.) and Camryn Dickinson, in the 59th minute, followed by Sinead Deegan (Bethel, Conn.), who finished off a feed from Dickinson in the 66th minute to close out the scoring.
Offensively, D'Antonio led the Hawks with a team-high eight shots, including four on goal. Yucius tallied six attempts with two on frame, while Dickinson contributed three shots, two on goal, and a goal with two assists. In total, Roger Williams outshot Keene State 27-11, with 12 of those on target.
Defensively, goalkeeper Coco Marrelli (Fairfield, Conn.) recorded two saves on three shots faced to preserve the win. The Hawks' back line limited Keene State's attack, allowing just one goal while frustrating the Owls' attempts to mount a comeback .
Roger Williams (1-0-1, 0-0 CNE) will return to action on Saturday, Sep. 6 at 4:30 pm when they travel to Endicott before hosting UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday, Sep. 10 at 7:00 pm.
