Field Hockey: Hawks Dominate Possession, King Tallies 150 Career Points in Win Over Simmons

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Field Hockey Team was able to put 16 shots on target, while holding Simmons University without a shot, on way to a 4-0 victory on Bayside Field on Wednesday evening.

The Hawks had 6 penalty corner opportunities while holding Simmons to only one attempt. The Sharks' Trinity Williamson made 12 saves while allowing four goals, moving to 2-0 on the season. Hannah Brazil (Sandwich, Mass.) did not face a shot in the contest, moving her record to 3-2 on the year.

Maddy Monahan (Bristol, N.H.) and Chelsea King (Albany, N.Y.) each had three total points, scoring a goal and dishing out an assist each. To lead the Hawks, with Eva Wood (Sandwich, Mass.) putting three shots on target in the contest.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Hawks struck in the second, with King being on the receiving end of a pass from Grace Rocheleau (West Hartford, Conn.) that King then buried for her fifth goal of the season.  With the goal King became the first player in program history to tally 150 career points.

The Hawks then saw Timbrouck tally the next goal in the third quarter, with 4:21 remaining in the frame, when Monahan found Hannah Timbrouck (Kingston, N.Y.) for a goal, putting the Hawks up 2-0 heading into the final quarter of regulation.

In the third quarter, King put the ball in on a penalty corner, sending it to the top of the scoring area to Anna Kruggel (Scituate, Mass.), Kruggel then sent a backhanded pass over to Monahan, who buried the shot from the top of the scoring area. The Hawks added another goal 1:09 later when Wood screened off Williamson, as King flipped a pass to Lexi Yost, for her second goal of the season.

Roger Williams (3-2, 0-0 CNE) will host Nichols for their first Conference of New England matchup on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 1:00 pm.  The Hawks will then travel to Middletown, Conn. On Tuesday, Sept. 16 for a 6:30 pm matchup at Wesleyan.

Simmons (0-3, 0-0 GNAC) will face the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 12:00 pm in West Hartford for their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener. The Sharks will then host Clark on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 5:00 pm.
