SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Max St. Aubin (Brewster, Mass.) carded consecutive rounds of 70 (-2) to lead the Roger Williams University Men's Golf team through two rounds of the Skidmore Fall Invitational on Saturday at Saratoga Spa State Park Golf Course.
St. Aubin stood tied for second with a 140 (-4), one stroke behind Endicott's Myles O'Quinn. The Hawks posted rounds of 302 (+14) and 301 (+13) for a combined 603 (+27), placing 11th in the 21-team field. New York University led at 573 (-3), followed by Middlebury at 579 (+3) and Amherst at 583 (+7).
On the par-72, 7,145-yard course, St. Aubin recorded 13 birdies across the two rounds. He opened with six birdies, including three on the front nine, where he shot a 33 (-3). He matched that front-nine score in the second round, collecting five birdies before adding two more on the back nine.
Sammy Johnson (West Springfield, Mass.) posted a 149 (+5), pairing a 74 (+2) with a 75 (+3). Johnson played the back nine at even par in both rounds, recording six birdies across those 18 holes.
Reid Ohanesian (Shirley, Mass.) and Gianni Fontenault (Warwick, R.I.) were tied for 77th at 157 (+13). Ohanesian improved from an 80 (+8) to a 77 (+5), highlighted by a 34 (-2) on the back nine in the second round. He birdied Nos. 10, 11, 12 and 14 during that stretch.
Fontenault opened with a 78 (+6) before shooting a 79 (+7), totaling six birdies across the two rounds.
Joel Collins (Manchester, N.H.) rounded out the Hawks' lineup with a 185 (+41), recording rounds of 92 (+20) and 93 (+21).
