Field Hockey: Raspante Named CNE Defensive Player of the Week After Dominant Weekend in Goal

Raspante anchors the Hawks' defense with 10 saves across two victories, including a clutch performance in a double-overtime win over Endicott

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Conference of New England announced Monday afternoon that Roger Williams University field hockey junior goalkeeper Meili Raspante (Cotuit, Mass.) has been named the CNE Defensive Player of the Week following an outstanding week between the pipes for the Hawks.

Raspante played a pivotal role in RWU's two victories, showcasing her ability to come up big when it mattered most. The junior stood tall in cage throughout the week, combining for 10 saves while helping anchor a defensive unit that delivered in two key matchups.

Raspante Stands Tall Against the Gulls

Raspante was a huge factor in the Hawks' thrilling 2-1 double-overtime victory over conference rival Endicott on Saturday afternoon at Bayside Field. The junior goalkeeper held down the fort against a talented Gulls squad, recording seven saves to help RWU secure the hard-fought Senior Day victory.

Her strong performance followed another key outing against Salve Regina on October 14, when Raspante turned aside three shots to help the Hawks earn a 2-1 victory over the Seahawks. Her consistent presence in goal helped RWU navigate a crucial stretch of the season and improve to 3-1 in CNE play.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Raspante and the Hawks will look to keep their momentum rolling as they travel to Keene, N.H., to take on Keene State in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, October 20, at 5 p.m.
