BRISTOL, R.I. — Three different players scored as the Roger Williams University men's soccer team earned a 3-1 nonconference victory over Salve Regina University on Saturday afternoon at Bayside Field.
The Hawks finished with advantages in shots, 11-3, shots on goal, 8-2, and corner kicks, 8-2. Roger Williams held 59% of the possession and limited the Seahawks to one second-half attempt.
Louis Hawkins (Norwich, Conn.), Dylan Robbins (Johnston, R.I.) and Ollie Hamilton (North Chittenden, Vt.) each scored for RWU. Hawkins and Robbins finished with three shots and two attempts on goal apiece.
Midfielder Aidan Jennings (San Diego, Calif.) and Brandon Rodriguez (Norwalk, Conn.) assisted on Hawkins' opening goal. Junior forward Tyler Jastrab (Townsend, Mass.) supplied the assist on Robbins' second-half tally.
Eliot Panaccione (Pepperell, Mass.) made one save to improve to 3-1-3.
Brennan Silva recorded five saves for Salve Regina. Ty Ferris scored the Seahawks' goal, while Javier Tubatan placed Salve Regina's other shot on target.
Roger Williams took the lead at 11:17 when Hawkins converted passes from Jennings and Rodriguez for his second goal of the season.
The Hawks continued applying pressure during the opening half, forcing Silva to make four saves. Panaccione denied Tubatan in the 33rd minute to send RWU into halftime with a 1-0 advantage.
Robbins doubled the lead at 64:24, finishing a feed from Jastrab for his third goal of the year. Hamilton extended the advantage to 3-0 four minutes later with an unassisted tally, giving him a team-leading fifth goal.
Ferris ended the shutout with an unassisted goal at 88:36, producing the final 3-1 margin.
Roger Williams (6-1-3, 1-0-2 CNE) hosts Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in non-conference action Sunday, Oct. 4, at Bayside Field for Senior Day.
