Women’s Lacrosse: Hawks Fall to Endicott in CNE Championship

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team saw its season come to a close on Saturday afternoon, falling in the Conference of New England (CNE) Championship to Endicott, 17-11, at Hempstead Stadium.

Endicott set the tone early, striking four goals in the opening quarter to take a 4-0 lead. The Hawks had opportunities in the frame, generating several shots and possessions, but were unable to break through as the Gulls capitalized on their chances.

Roger Williams responded in the second quarter with a stronger offensive rhythm. Jamie Anthony (Somers, Conn.) got the Hawks on the board, before Endicott's Abbie Belleville answered with another goal to make it 5-1. Miranda Hayes (South Burlington, Vt.) followed with a goal to trim the deficit, but Belleville answered again to bring the Gulls ahead 6-2. The Hawks continued to battle, as Lauren Canata (West Springfield, Mass.) connected off a feed from Allie Shamberger (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), before Endicott responded with one more goal in the quarter to make it a 7-3 game heading into halftime.

The third quarter continute the back-and-forth offensive battle. Endicott opened the half with a quick pair of goals to extend its lead to 9-3, but Roger Williams answered with one of its strongest stretches of the game. Molly Schmitz (Hamden, Conn.) scored off of a pass from Shamberger, before Belleville scored another for the Gulls to keep their lead at 10-4. Shamberger found the back of the net on her own, but Endicott answered with a pair of goals from Mia Smith and Mia Samarjian to bring the score to 12-5. Anthony added another tally for the Hawks before the Gulls scored three to lengthen their lead to 15-6. RWU generated three more goals, two from Shamberger and one from Hayes, to close out the period trailing Endicott 15-6.

In the final quarter, the Hawks continued to chip away. Natalie Jones (Granby, Conn.) converted on a man-up opportunity early in the frame, and Shamberger added her fourth goal of the game late, but Endicott controlled possession down the stretch and added key insurance goals to close out the 17-11 result.

Shamberger led the Hawks with four goals and four assists, driving much of the offensive production. Anthony and Hayes each added two goals, while Schmitz, Canata, and Jones also found the back of the net. In goal, Aizza Chase (Cohasset, Mass.) made 16 saves, keeping Roger Williams within striking distance throughout stretches of the game.

Despite the loss, the Hawks (10-9, 8-2 CNE) showed resilience, particularly in the second and third quarters, as they continued to battle against a high-powered Endicott offense to close out the 2026 season.
