BALTIC, Conn. — Reid Ohanesian shot a 70 (-1) to tie for second place as the Roger Williams University men's golf team posted a 310 (+26) in the opening round of the Eastern Connecticut Warrior Collegiate on Monday at Mohegan Sun Golf Club.
The Hawks stood sixth in the nine-team field on the par-71, 6,690-yard course. Host Eastern Connecticut State led with a 285 (+1), followed by American International at 289 (+5) and Southern Maine at 300 (+16).
Ohanesian recorded three birdies and 13 pars, finishing two strokes behind individual leader Rajat Rai of American International. After shooting a 36 (+1) on the front nine, Ohanesian played a bogey-free back nine in 34 (-2), with birdies on the par-5 13th and 18th holes. His first birdie came on the par-4 ninth.
Max St. Aubin followed with a 75 (+4), tying for 12th. St. Aubin registered 14 pars, including eight on the back nine, where he shot a 37 (+1).
Samuel Johnson carded an 82 (+11) to tie for 36th, while Ryan Dacey finished the round in 38th with an 83 (+12). Dacey birdied the par-3 eighth hole. Josh Peterson rounded out the Hawks' lineup with an 85 (+14), tying for 40th after shooting a 39 (+3) on the back nine.
