BRISTOL, R.I. — The Roger Williams University men's soccer team built a two-goal advantage before Endicott College rallied to earn a 2-2 Conference of New England (CNE) draw Friday at Bayside Field.
Roger Williams moved to 4-1-3 overall and 1-0-2 in conference play while extending its unbeaten streak to five matches. Endicott moved to 3-2-3 overall and 1-1-1 in the CNE.
The Hawks held advantages in shots, 14-7, shots on goal, 10-3, and corner kicks, 9-0. Roger Williams controlled 53% of the possession and generated eight shots during the second half.
Dylan Robbins (Johnston, R.I.) led RWU with four shots, placing three on goal, and scored his second goal of the season. Louis Hawkins (Norwich, Conn.) recorded his first goal of the year on three shots, while junior Tyler Jastrab (Townsend, Mass.) supplied an assist.
Kevin DeCapua (Old Saybrook, Conn.) added three shots, including two on goal. Eliot Panaccione (Pepperell, Mass.) made one save.
Aidan Sheehan and Adam Kozubal scored for Endicott, with Kaio Morais assisting on the equalizer. Goalkeeper Andrew Genovese made eight saves to help the Gulls secure the draw.
Roger Williams created the first sustained pressure of the match, earning three corner kicks during the opening 25 minutes. Robbins gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead at 21:16, scoring unassisted after Genovese stopped his initial shot nine seconds earlier.
RWU carried the one-goal advantage into halftime after outshooting Endicott, 6-2, and holding a 4-1 edge in shots on goal during the opening period.
Hawkins doubled the lead at 54:01, converting a feed from Jastrab to make it 2-0.
Endicott responded less than seven minutes later when Sheehan scored an unassisted goal at 60:54. Kozubal completed the comeback in the 72nd minute, finishing a pass from Morais to pull the Gulls even.
Roger Williams placed four shots on goal over the final 22 minutes, but Genovese denied attempts from Brandon Rodriguez (Norwalk, Conn.), DeCapua and Noah Massotti (Middletown, Conn.) to preserve the draw.
