BRISTOL, R.I. — The Roger Williams University women's soccer team battled Emerson College to a scoreless draw Sunday afternoon at Bayside Field in a non-conference matchup.
The Hawks move to 1-0-2 on the season and have now recorded back-to-back scoreless draws after playing Regis to a 0-0 tie on Thursday. Roger Williams created several quality scoring opportunities throughout Sunday's contest, including multiple one-on-one chances against Emerson goalkeeper Hailey Forman, but could not find the breakthrough.
Hawks Control Opening Half
Roger Williams controlled the offensive opportunities in the opening 45 minutes, outshooting Emerson 5-0 while putting two attempts on goal.
Senior forward Beth Yucius (Duxbury, Mass.) created multiple opportunities early, recording three shots in the contest. Her seventh-minute attempt was saved by Forman, while another attempt in the 17th minute went wide.
First-year midfielder Madelyn Riebold (Deep River, Conn.) tested Forman again in the 29th minute, forcing another save. Sophomore midfielder Camryn Dickinson (Quaker Hill, Conn.) added a shot in the 41st minute before Yucius registered another attempt late in the half.
Despite controlling the opening half, the Hawks were unable to convert their opportunities as the two teams entered the break locked in a scoreless battle.
Emerson Applies Pressure in Second Half
Emerson came out with increased pressure after halftime, recording all five of its shots in the second half.
Sophomore goalkeeper Lizzy Thompson (Holland, Mass.) provided a strong presence in net after replacing Ava Boenig (Norwich, Conn.) at 40:10. Thompson finished with three saves, including stops on Emerson's Brady Campbell, Finlee Mills and Lily Polin.
Emerson also threatened in the 51st minute when Ella Knox's shot hit the woodwork, but the Hawks' defense continued to keep the Lions off the scoreboard.
Hawks Create Dangerous Opportunities
Roger Williams continued to generate chances throughout the second half, with Mya D'Antonio (Marshfield, Mass.) leading the Hawks with four shots and two shots on goal.
D'Antonio forced Forman into saves in the 62nd and 86th minutes, while Leah Costa (Woodstock, Conn.) and Logan DiFatta (Simsbury, Conn.) each added a second-half shot.
The Hawks repeatedly found themselves in dangerous positions, including several one-on-one opportunities against Forman, but could not capitalize. Forman finished with four saves to preserve the shutout for Emerson.
Hawks Earn Second Straight Draw
The Roger Williams defense completed its second consecutive shutout, limiting Emerson to five shots and three shots on goal.
Boenig played the opening 40:10 without being required to make a save, while Thompson recorded three saves over the final 49:50. Emerson goalkeeper Forman made four saves in the scoreless draw.
Roger Williams finished with an 11-5 advantage in shots and a 4-3 edge in shots on goal. Emerson held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks, while the Hawks committed 10 fouls to Emerson's eight.
Hawks Remain Unbeaten Through Three Matches
Sunday's result keeps Roger Williams unbeaten through the opening three matches of the 2026 campaign. The Hawks opened the season with a 7-0 victory at Saint Joseph (Conn.) before consecutive 0-0 draws against Regis and Emerson.
D'Antonio paced the Hawks with four shots and two shots on goal, while Yucius added three shots and one shot on goal. Riebold recorded one shot on goal, with Costa, Dickinson and DiFatta each adding one shot.

The Hawks will remain at Bayside Field on Wednesday, September 9, when Roger Williams welcomes Wheaton (Mass.) for another non-conference matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
