Prior to Roger Williams, Tom McCarthy has coached at every level from youth to professional hockey, founded Out Front Hockey, sits on Rhode Island Youth Hockey's Board, and served as head coach and assistant coach across high school and collegiate programs. No stranger to Roger Williams, McCarthy was an assistant for RWU's Club Men's Ice Hockey team in 2021-2022.Â
A former Army officer, McCarthy has led aviation task forces, operational units, and organizational initiatives, earning multiple commendations, awards, and recognitions. His military, public health, and corporate leadership experience informs his approach to developing student-athletes, creating high-performing hockey programs, and driving organizational culture and strategy.
He holds a a Bachelor’s degree from US Military Academy West Point and a Master’s in Strategy and Leadership from the US Naval War College.
Currently, McCarthy works as the Vice President of Operations for Plum Dental Group. Â
