Assistant Coach Ellen Quantmeyer-Bruckshaw returns to Roger Williams University in the fall of 2007 to guide the women’s basketball program under new Head Coach Tracey Hathaway-James. Quantmeyer-Bruckshaw and Hathaway-James were teammates at URI during their undergraduate playing careers. Quantmeyer-Bruckshaw was formerly Head Coach of women’s basketball at RWU from 1994-1997.
Quantmeyer-Bruckshaw graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1988 with a B.S. in Physical Education & Health. While at URI, she was a Division I basketball 1,000 point scorer and Defensive Player of the Year in 1985 & 1986. In 2001, she was inducted into the URI Athletic Hall of Fame.
Her high school athletic accomplishments are equally impressive. Quantmeyer-Bruckshaw was the first male or female athlete to score 1,000 points at Northern Valley Regional High School (Old Tappan, N.J.). She earned All-State honors in basketball and softball, and became the first female to be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in April of 1989.
Quantmeyer-Bruckshaw’s has experience coaching basketball at both the college and high school levels. From 1986-1989, she served as Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at URI. From 1991-1992, she served as Assistant Boys’ Basketball Coach at North Kingstown High School.
In addition to her duties at Roger Williams, Quantmeyer-Bruckshaw is a Physical Educator for the Johnston Public Schools.
Quantmeyer-Bruckshaw resides in Warwick with her son, Kyle.
