BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams Women's Soccer team defeated Gordon College 3-1 Tuesday after being tied in the first half of their Commonwealth Coast Conference game.
The Hawks were first to score 25 minutes into the first half. A Fighting Scots defender failed to clear the ball sending it straight to Laurin Pendleton (Southwick, Mass.) who shot hard to the left side of the goal and over the head of goalkeeper Abby Ytzen (Des Moines, Iowa). Three minutes before the end of the half the Scots came back with a goal by Katie Thompson (Long Valley, N.J.) who deflected the ball off a corner kick taken by Hala Coker (East Falmouth, Mass.).
The tie was broken at 74:14 once Carey Baldwin (West Hartford, Conn.) passed to Katie Fusaro (Hopkinton, Mass.) who shot opposite the keeper to the left.
