BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Athletic Department has teamed up with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and is proud to announce its “Think Pink” Day on February 21 during the men's/women's basketball doubleheader versus Eastern Nazarene College, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
An area will be designated for those in attendance to make donations to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. 100 percent of all funds donated go directly to the charitable organization.
Simply Wellness, the University's faculty and staff wellness program, will be on hand to provide the public with facts and figures on breast cancer in order to help raise awareness of the affliction. Pink ribbons, provided by Simply Wellness, will be given to the first 50 visitors.
Fans are encouraged to wear pink clothing in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Week. The first 100 female spectators to arrive will receive a pink carnation.
The day promises to be full of events in addition to the basketball games. At halftime of both the men's and women's games, a foul-shooting contest will be held for local youth, where the participants can win prizes.
In addition to the contest, members of the RWU Softball team will be on hand to provide free skills development to children. However, there is limited space available; interested individuals must pre-register by contacting Head Coach Steve Pappas (spappas@rwu.edu).
