BRISTOL, R.I.  – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team began its Fall season Tuesday evening with a 7-2 win over Stonehill College. The win avenges a 1-8 loss to the Skyhawks from a year before.

Beginning the match with singles play, the Hawks quickly jumped out to a two-match lead after winning four out of six. Kevin Erikson (Tolland, Conn.) picked up a 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) win in the second flight over Mike Leone, while Spencer Withington (Plymouth, Mass.) won his #4 match against Jon Burke by a 7-5, 6-4, 7-5 score.

Earning their first collegiate wins were Nate Rohman (Topsham, Maine) and Jason Pacino (North Reading, Mass.) who won at #5 and #6, respectively. Rohman defeated Charlie Sherman 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, while Pacino won 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 over Aaron Bergeron.

In the doubles portion of the match, RWU swept all three matches against the Skyhawks to secure the win. Dan Kleitz (Wethersfield, Conn.) and David Lange (Great Neck, N.Y.) defeated Mike Mashkevich and Chris Cusimano 8-6 at #1, with Withington and Erikson winning #2 doubles over Leone and Sherman 8-4. Rohman and Kyle Baker (Bolton, Conn.) completed the doubles sweep at #3 with an 8-6 win over Burke and Bergeron.

Roger Williams (1-0) will host Babson in the next match on September 23, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
