KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team lost to Connecticut College 8-1 in their first match over Spring Break in Kissimmee, Florida.

In the #5 Singles match, senior Dan Kleitz (Wethersfield, Conn.) won against Craig Stanton of Connecticut College. Kleitz was defeated in the first set, but came back hard to win the next two. Kleitz downed Stanton in a thrilling third set tiebreak.

The remaining singles matches were a different story for the visitors as they were able to win the other five matches. In the #1 Singles match, Trevor Prophet with match scores 6-1 and 6-0 defeated Jeff DeNunzio (Barrington, R.I.). In the #2 Singles match, David Lange (Great Neck, N.Y.) was defeated by Colin Tasi with scores 6-3 in the first set, and a hard fought 7-5 in the second.  Kevin Erikson (Tolland, Conn.) was defeated by George King in the #3 Singles match. King won the first set 6-2, but Erikson came back in the second to win 7-6 in a tiebreaker. Ultimately, King won the third set and match with a score of 6-2.

In the #4 Singles match Kyle Baker (Bolton, Conn.) was defeated by Jeff Weisburg. Baker took the first set, 6-1, but fell 6-2 and 6-0 in the second and third sets. Jeremy Bader defeated Jason Pacino (North Reading Mass.) in the #6 Singles match. Pacino won the first set, 6-2, but Bader rallied back to win the next two sets 6-2 and 6-4.

The Hawks were swept in their three doubles matches with Kleitz and Lange falling in a close 9-8 against Prophet and Weisburg, Erikson and Nicholas Hawvermale (Bethlehem, Conn.) falling 8-5 against King and Stanton, and DeNunzio and Baker falling 8-3 to Tasi and Henry Friedman.

The Hawks continue their spring break in Kissimmee, Florida and look to get back into action Wednesday against University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
