KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team could not pull out a victory Wednesday afternoon over the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, as the Hawks fell to the Eagles 3-6.

Sophomore David Lange (Great Neck, N.Y.) and freshman Jason Pacino (North Reading, Mass.) picked up victories for the Hawks in singles play. Lange took a 6-4, 6-4 decision over Joey Van Lieshout (Neenah, Wisc.) in #2 singles, while Pacino defeated Sam Talarczyk (Madison, Wisc.) 6-3, 6-3 in the #6 flight. Getting the third win for RWU were sophomore Kevin Erikson (Tolland, Conn.) and junior Nicholas Hawvermale (Bethlehem, Conn.) at #2 doubles, winning 8-0 over Nathan Fekete (Menomonie, Wisc.) and Steven Quiring (Bloomington, Minn.).

Nick Piotrowski (Greendale, Wisc.) won 6-2, 6-1 over sophomore Jeff DeNunzio (Barrington, R.I.) at #1 singles, with Fekete defeating Erikon 6-3, 6-2 at the third flight. Senior Kyle Baker (Bolton, Conn.) fell 6-2, 6-0 to Quiring in #4 singles, while junior Dan Kleitz (Wethersfield, Conn.) lost 6-4, 6-0 to Paul Vickers (Hartland, Wisc.) at #5.

In doubles play, Van Lieshout and Piotrowski took their #1 match over Kleitz and Lange 8-2, and Jon Mahvi (Middleton, Wisc.) and Taylor Schliewe (Horicon, Wisc.) knocked off Pacino and freshman Nate Rohman (Topsham, Maine) 8-4 and #3.

Roger Williams (2-4) plays two matches Thursday, with an 8:00 a.m. with Franklin & Marshall College, followed by a 3:30 p.m. match with Illinois Wesleyan University.
