BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team snapped Western New England's eight-match Commonwealth Coast Conference winning streak with an 8-1 win Monday afternoon.

The win for the Hawks moves Roger Williams into a tie with the Golden Bears for second place in the conference, as both teams hold identical 8-1 record in the TCCC.

At doubles play, the Hawks got a pair of 8-2 wins from Jeff DeNunzio (Barrington, R.I.) and Spencer Withington at #2 and Nicholas Hawvermale (Bethlehem, Conn.) and Jason Pacino (North Reading , Mass.) at #3. Withington and DeNunzio defeated JonPaul Ouellete (Bethlehem, Conn.) and Tim Santye (Skillman, N.J.), while Hawvermale and Pacino beat Shawn Fitzpatrick (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and Matt Minahan (Plymouth, Mass.).

At singles play, both Kevin Erikson (Tolland, Conn.) and Nate Rohman (Topsham, Maine) extended their respective winning streaks to four matches. Erikson won 6-2, 6-2 over Chris Holzinger (Foster, R.I.) at #2 and Rohman picked up a 4-6, 6-2, 10-0 win over Tyler Unwin (Pittsfield, Vt.) at #6.

Minahan won via default over Withington for the Golden Bears lone point of the day.

Roger Williams (12-6, 8-1 TCCC) travels to Curry College on Wednesday, while Western New England (12-3, 8-1 TCCC) hosts Anna Maria College on Tuesday.
