Two TCCC Championships in a row for Women’s Track & Field

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Women's Track & Field team repeated as Commonwealth Coast Conference Champions Saturday, claiming their second straight title.

Freshman Megan Breault (Agawam, Mas.) accounted for 32 points on the day for Roger Williams, winning three individual events and one relay. Breault set the school record in the 100 Meter Hurdles with a time of 15.91 and won the Long Jump and Triple Jump. She also set a new school record of 50.43 and qualified for the ECAC Championships in the 4 x 100 Meter Relay, along with Maria Lobalbo (Bethel, Conn.), Hannah Noel (Adams, Mass.), and Meghan Krauss (Holliston, Mass.). Krauss also picked up a pair of wins in the 100 Meter Dash and 200 Meter Dash.

Kristen St. Pierre (Dracut, Mass.), running on an injured leg, won and set a personal best & school record in the 1500 Meter Run with a time of 5:05.58. Finishing just behind her in second was Alexandra Honkala (South Royalton, Vt.), setting a personal best and running under the old school record time of 5:07. She also won the 800 Meter Run in 2:33.

Liliana Rutler (Wyckoff, N.J.) repeated as Champion in the 5000 Meter Run and also finished third in the 1500 Meter Run with a personal best of 5:08.59.

Marissa Jambor (Brewster, N.Y.) also ran a great race in winning the 10,000 Meter Run with Jessica Kraiza (North Granby, Conn.) coming from behind to finish second. In addition, Noel, Lobalbo, Maggie Blinn (Billerica, Mass), and Katie O'Koren (Franklin, Mass.) won the 4 x 400 Meter Relay.

On the throws side, freshman Courtney Anderson (Palmer, Mass.) made a solid contribution for the Hawks, scoring 14 points by taking 2nd in the Javelin Throw (100'9"), fourth in the Shot Put (30' 5.75"), and fifth in the Hammer Throw (96 '7").

"I knew I could count on Courtney to come out here and score some points for us in the throws", said Throws Coach Tom Conley. "This was actually the first time she's ever competed in the hammer and she did outstanding. That might end up being one of her best events down the road."

"The ladies have such a young team, having no seniors on the roster," said Head Coach Sean Livingston. "They really could start being a force for not just the conference level, but I really feel in the New England meet as well."
