CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Angela West (Riverview, Fla.) placed third in the women's javelin at the MIT Final Qualifier on Thursday at Steinbrenner Stadium.

West, a sophomore, recorded a top throw of 39.03 meters, finishing third in the field, the top amongst Division III competitors,  earning a podium finish in the field. Her best mark came on her third attempt after opening with throws of 37.97 and 36.26m. She followed with three consistent marks over 37 meters , closing at 37.51m.

West finished behind UMass Lowell's Alessandra Forgione, who won at 46.44m and Vermont's Emma Wapshare, who was second at 44.30m 

West currently holds the 20th-best throw in Division III with a distance of 41.75m.
