Volleyball wraps up Springfield Invite

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Roger Williams Women's Volleyball team finished the second day of the Springfield College Invitational with a 1-2 record, defeating Westfield State 3-0 (25-27, 25-17, 25-23) then falling 3-1 to Plymouth State (25-18, 20-25, 25-23, 25-16)and Springfield College (15-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-16).

Marybeth Torpey (Quincy, Mass.) and Emily Lebowitz (Coventry, Conn.) were both named to the All-Tournament team for their performance on the weekend.

Against Westfield State, Krystie Luczynski (Kensington, Conn.) finished the match with 11 kills, four blocks, and four digs. Torpey had eight kills, three blocks, five digs, and a service ace, while Kelsee Locke (Millis, Mass.) added 15 digs and two service aces. Lebowitz led the Hawks with 18 assists and six digs, with Alexa Armenti (Dix Hills, N.Y.) adding ten assists, five digs, and a service ace.

In the match against Plymouth State, Torpey had a team-high nine kills with 11 digs and two service aces. Danna McDonald (Santa Monica, Calif.) had a solid all-around game with seven kills, 14 digs, three service aces, and one block. Luczynski added five kills and five blocks, with Loche leading the Hawks with 24 digs to go along with one service ace. Lebowitz contributed 29 assists, four kills, six digs, and an ace.

Luczynski led the Hawks in the Springfield match with eight kills, along with three digs. Abby Cunningham (Catasauqua, Pa.) had seven kills and six digs for RWU, while Torpey and Holly Hancock (Tilton, N.H.) added six kills each. Loche had 16 digs for the Hawks, with Lebowitz adding 26 assists and 11 digs. Emily Werth (Cheshire, Conn.) finished with five digs and four service aces.

Roger Williams (3-2) will host Emmanuel College on Tuesday evening, with the match scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
