BRISTOL, R.I. – Roger Williams University Women's Volleyball senior Marianna Hernandez (Norwalk, Conn.) was named the Conference of New England (CNE) Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday.

Hernandez recorded a career-high 40 digs to anchor the Hawks' defense during a five-set conference victory over Wentworth on Friday. She also contributed three assists and one service ace in the 3-2 (20-25, 25-23, 22-25, 27-25, 15-13) win.

The senior helped Roger Williams limit Wentworth to a .135 hitting percentage as the Hawks handed the Leopards their first conference loss of the season. RWU improved to 8-12 overall and 4-2 in CNE play with the victory.
