Wrestling splits pair of dual matches against Wesleyan and Trinity

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Wrestling team finished with a .500 day against Wesleyan University and Trinity College, defeating Trinity 40-3 and falling 11-27 to Wesleyan on Sunday.

Kyle D'Urso (Londonderry, N.H.) earned two wins on the day for the Hawks at the 157 weight class, shutting out Alex Cannon of Wesleyan by a 9-0 margin and defeating Evan Robinson of Trinity 17-3. Philip Ernst (Succasunna, N.J.) also took home a pair of wins at 197, with a 3-0 decision over Luke Erickson of Wesleyan, and a 6-4 win over Petros Hologitas of Trinity.

The Hawks also earned a pair of falls on the day against Trinity, with Conor Hayes (Old Bridge, N.J.) pinning Liam Fay at 2:01 and Robert Markowski (Wayne, N.J.) pinning John Williams at 2:51.

Collin Crowell (Hampstead, N.H.) also continued his impressive streak, winning his fifth straight decision with victories over Thomas Oddo of Wesleyan (9-0) and Kyle Lundberg of Trinity (7-2).

Wesleyan defeated Trinity 31-16 to finish the day at 2-0.

"We had a good showing against Trinity, but today just wasn't our day with Wesleyan," said Head Coach Jon Egan. "Fortunately for us we'll see them again next week. We have a lot of hard work to do for the dual meet championship"

Roger Williams (2-2) will compete in the New England Dual Meet Championship at Springfield College next Sunday.
