SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Springfield College earned a 5-1 win over the visiting Roger Williams Women's Soccer team on Tuesday evening in the Pride's final regular season home game.

Nina Vital scored a pair of goals for Springfield College in the win. Springfield, which received votes in this week's NSCAA National Poll, improves to 11-4-1, while Roger Williams dropped to 9-6-2.

Vital gave Springfield a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute on her first goal of the night. Ashley Carresi drove her corner kick from the left side that slipped through Roger Williams goalie Stephanie Jaques (Burlington, Vt.) hands. Vital was waiting inside the six yard box and headed home the Pride's first goal of the game.

Springfield added to its lead 8:37 later on an unassisted strike from Jessica Miller. Miller carried the ball down the right flank, and lofted a shot from that drifted into the far left corner of the net, just above the outstretched arms of Jaques.

Vital added her second goal just 1:08 into the second half to increase Springfield's lead to three. As the Hawks attempted the play the ball around in the box, Vital snuck in between a defender and the goalie to poke in her team-leading ninth goal.

The Pride tacked on its fourth goal in the 76th minute. Karly Barrett drilled a centering pass towards the six yard box, that Brooke Hattinger ran onto and slotted home.

Roger Williams finally broke onto the scoreboard 1:10 later. Julie Loewenstein (Malta, N.Y.) delivered a long pass through the Springfield defense that Hannah Noel (Adams, Mass.) pushed past a charging Erin Greenstein before firing a shot from a tough angle for the visitors only goal.

Barrett closed out the scoring in the 79th minute. Her initial header was saved, and after ricocheting off the cross bar, she slammed in the close range shot.

Roger Williams owned a 14-13 advantage in shots, owning a 12-7 edge in the second half. The visitors also took six of the game's nine corner kicks.

Greenstein earned the victory, making seven saves in the process. Jaques finished the evening with five stops for the Hawks.

Springfield concludes its regular season on Saturday when it travels to square off against Wellesley. If Springfield is able to secure a victory, it will claim its third-straight regular-season conference crown and be the top seed in the upcoming New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship. Roger Williams is back to action tomorrow against Curry College.
