ORLANDO, Fla. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team earned a 6-3 win over Springfield College Monday afternoon to begin the spring portion of the 2011-12 season.

After having their match on Sunday against Drew University canceled due to rain, the Hawks were able to get in their match against the Pride, with the Hawks earning their first win of the season (1-3).

RWU took two of the doubles flights before winning four of the singles flights. Jason Pacino (North Reading, Mass.) won both of his doubles and singles matches, defeating Zach O'Leary and Doug Nickerson 8-6 at #1 with Ryan Swanson (West Newbury, Mass.). He then earned a solo win over O'Leary at #3 6-1, 6-0.

Swanson also won his singles match over Nickerson 6-1, 6-4 at #4 singles. Taylor Webster (Bristol, Conn.) and Kyle Bull (Pleasantville, N.Y.) also took their singles matches at#5 and #6 singles.
