DUDLEY, Mass. – Nichols College won its ninth-straight match, dealing visiting the Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team a 7-2 loss at the Francis W. Robinson Courts Wednesday afternoon. 

It was a rematch of the 2011 Commonwealth Coast Conference championship, a 5-1 Roger Williams win in Dudley, but Nichols prevailed, leading 2-1 after doubles and winning third through sixth singles despite a lengthy rain delay after the start of singles play.

Nichols (10-3, 3-0) got a quick third doubles win from Isiah Prosper (Manchester, N.H.) and Justin DeLuca (Mashpee, Mass.), and outlived a test at the second flight as Arsen Gasparyan (Miami, Fla.) and Dan Saucier (Newington, Conn.) held on for an 8-5 victory of Jeff DeNunzio (Barrington, R.I.) and Taylor Webster (Bristol, Conn.) in their first pairing together.

Roger Williams took the top doubles flight in a lengthy battle, seeing Jason Pacino (North Reading, Mass.) and Ryan Swanson (West Newbury, Mass.) edge Brandon Roode (Griswold, Conn.) and Steve Carella (Rocky Hill, Conn.), 8-6.

Roode made quick work of DeNunzio at the top singles flight, ousting him, 6-2, 6-1 before Carella defeated Webster at the fifth flight, 6-4, 6-1. DeLuca clinched the match in his first singles appearance of the season without dropping a game to Jonathan Chandler (East Falmouth, Mass.).

Prosper and Gasparyan followed with straight-set victories at the fourth and third spots, respectively, and David Drucker (Bellmore, N.Y.) battled through injury to a super tiebreak loss to CCC Player and Rookie of the Week Zack Bussiere (Colchester, Vt).

Nichols looks to remain perfect in CCC action on Saturday in a noon match at Gordon. Roger Williams hosts Curry Saturday at 1 p.m. for a conference match.
