SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Zack Bussiere (Colchester, Conn.) captured both his number one doubles and singles matches to lead the Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team to an 8-1 victory over Western New England Friday afternoon (Apr. 6).
The Hawks raised their record to 5-5 overall and 3-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC). The Golden Bears saw their three-match win streak ended after falling to 3-5 and1-1 in conference play.
Bussiere took his singles flight with a 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7) decision over junior Chris Holzinger (Foster, R.I.) and teamed with sophomore Taylor Webster (Bristol, Conn.) for an 8-3 win over Holzinger and freshman Peter Lefrancois (Marlborough, Conn.).
Western New England scored its only point when sophomore Tyler Unwin (Pittsfield, Vt.) posted a 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-6) victory over freshman Alexander Dimas (Athens, N.Y.).
