Hawks Earn Conference Player and Rookie of the Week Honors

Junior Krystie Luczynski and Freshman Elizabeth Flaherty take POW Honors

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 BRISTOL, R.I. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference announced its Player of the Week Honors for September 10th.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Roger Williams University junior outside hitter Krystie Luczynski (Kensington, Conn.) played a key role as the Hawks opened the 2012 season with a 6-2 record.   Luczynski averaged a team-high 3.39 kills per set, while hitting an efficient .298 over 23 sets.  She notched double-digit kills in five of her eight matches, including 11 against top-ranked Christopher Newport.  Other strong efforts from Luczynski included 17 kills against Emmanuel, 12 kills against Bridgewater, 11 kills against CCC rival University of New England and 10 kills against NYU-Polytechnic.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Roger Williams University freshman outside hitter Elizabeth Flaherty (Sloatsburg, N.Y.) enjoyed a productive and efficient start to her college career, averaging 2.44 kills and1.76 digs to go with a .241 attack percentage.  Flaherty logged seven or more kills in seven of eight matches, including 10-kill efforts against top-ranked Christopher Newport and CCC rival University of New England.  She also chipped in five or more digs against five different opponents in a 6-2 week.
