Wrestling Finishes 5th at NEWA Duals

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Wrestlers take 5th place at the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Dual Meets.

In the first round match ups the Hawks defeated Bridgewater State 39-12. After advancing to the second round the Hawks fell to Williams College 21-20. The Hawks regained momentum in the third round to defeat Rhode Island College 25-17. The Hawks earned a 24-18 victory over Worcester Polytechnic Institute in the final round to secure fifth place overall.

David Welch (Salem, N.H.) was named to the NEWA All-Tournament Team. Shane Parcel (Pine Brook, N.J.) and Collin Crowell (Hampstead, N.H.) were the only other Hawks to go undefeated in their matches.

The Hawks return to action in Bristol, R.I. to host Bridgewater State in a Pilgrim League match up on January 30, 2013 at 6:00p.m. The meet will be held in the Gym of the Athletic recreation Center on the campus of RWU.
