Volleyball to face St. Joseph’s (LI) in NCAA First Round

BRISTOL, R.I. – With the release of the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Tournament bracket, the Roger Williams University Women's Volleyball team will travel to Williams College to face St. Joseph's (LI) in the opening round. This will be the first time that these two teams will square off.

The Hawks (30-3) earned their way to the tournament via winning The Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship this past Saturday against Endicott College. The Hawks defeated the Gulls 3-0 to win their fifth straight conference title and earn their fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament berth.

St. Joseph's (21-12) received an automatic bid to the tournament by way of a 3-2 win over The Sages College in the Skyline Conference Championship. For the Golden Eagles it is their third Skyline championship in the history of the program and the first since the 2003 season.

Forty-three conferences were awarded automatic qualification for the 2013 championship. Two teams were selected from Pool B, which consists of independent institutions and institutions that are members of conferences that do not meet the requirements for automatic qualification. The final 19 berths were reserved for Pool C, which consists of institutions from automatic-qualifying conferences that are not the conference champion and any remaining Pool B teams.

The two teams will face off on Friday at a time to be later determined.
