Zydanowicz receives All-American honors at NCAA Championship

HANOVER, Ind. - Roger Williams University junior Hannah Zydanowicz (Newington, Conn.) capped off the best individual season in RWU Women's Cross Country history with an extremely impressive performance at 2013 NCAA Women's Cross Country Championship. Zydanowicz placed 25th out of 280 runners at the national championship.

Her 6K time of 21:52.8 earned her All-American honors.  The junior was not far off from St. Scholastica's Chelsea Johnson who took first, crossing the finish line in 21:11.7.

The championship was held at Hanover College's nationally renowned cross country course in Hanover, Ind.

This was Zydanowicz's second trip to Indiana as the two-time CCC Runner of the Year (2012, 2013) made an appearance at the championship last year, placing 65th out of 277 runners. The junior automatically qualified for the national championships by finishing in second place at the 2013 New England Regional Championship, coming in with a time of 21:10.50 which shattered her own 6K record set last year at the regional by nearly a minute. She narrowly missed winning the race outright, taking over the lead with about 1,000 meters to go, only to be passed back in the final 600 meters by the eventual winner, Kaleigh Kenny of Williams College.
