Volleyball sweeps Wesleyan and edges Tufts to improve to 16-0

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Volleyball team cruise past Wesleyan (25-14, 25-21, 25-23) and takes the deciding fifth set to drop Tufts (24-26, 25-17, 25-14, 12-25, 15-9). The Hawks improve to 16-0 with their sixth win over a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) team.

In the second game of the tri-match Roger Williams swept Wesleyan (2-7) in three sets behind Flaherty's 15 kills. Kim Farris (Atlanta, GA) had 15 kills for Wesleyan.

In the final game of the tripleheader in which Wesleyan dropped matches to both Tufts and Roger Williams, the Hawks stayed undefeated on the season.

After dropping the first set 25-22, the Jumbos (9-4) came back and evened the match at 1-1 with a 25-21 win. In the Jumbos fourth set win they led wire-to-wire to even the match at 2-2.

Tufts took a 2-0 lead in the fifth set on two attack errors by the Hawks. Roger Williams came back and took the lead for good at 4-3 on a kill by Elizabeth Flaherty (Sloatsburg, NY) her ninth of the match. Andrea Gorman (Wilbraham, MA) closed out the match with her 16th kill to give the Hawks a 15-7 win.
Gorman hit .455 for the match with only one attack error. She added 10 digs and two aces for the Hawks. Kristen Boyer (Ephrata, PA) had 15 kills and 13 digs. Krystie Luczynski (Kensington, CT) had 12 kills and five blocks.

Roger Williams came into the match ranked first in the New England Women's Volleyball Association Coaches Poll and 25th in AVCA Division III National Coaches poll. Tufts is ranked sixth in New England.

The Hawks travel to Springfield, Mass. to take on Western New England on Wednesday, September 25^th for a 7:00 p.m. in Commonwealth Coast Conference action.
