Women’s Soccer earns #1 seed for CCC Tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Roger Williams University has earned the top seed for the 2014 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's soccer championship, which begins with quarterfinal matchups on campus sites Saturday afternoon.

The Hawks (15-2-3 overall) earned the top seed in the conference tournament after compiling a stellar 7-0-2 record in CCC play.  Roger Williams will host #8 seed Nichols College (7-11-0, 2-7-0) in a quarterfinal contest Saturday at a time to be announced. Other quarterfinal matchups slated for Saturday include #2 seed Endicott College (10-4-4, 6-2-1) hosting #7 seed Wentworth Institute of Technology (8-8-2, 3-5-1) at a time to be announced.  In addition, #3 seed Eastern Nazarene College (9-9-0, 6-3-0) will host #6 seed Western New England University (7-8-4, 4-3-2) at 11:00 a.m., while #4 seed University of New England (11-3-2, 5-2-2), while will host #5 seed Gordon College (12-6-0, 5-4-0) at 12:00 p.m.

Four of the eight teams that have qualified for the CCC Championship earned spots in the first NCAA Division III New England regional rankings that were released last Wednesday.  University of New England led the pack appearing in the seventh position.  Roger Williams was ranked ninth, Gordon was tenth and Endicott was 12th.  Updated regional rankings are released every Wednesday afternoon.

Quarterfinal winners will advance to the semifinal round which will be played on Tuesday, November 4 at the sites of the each higher seed.  Kickoff times will be announced.

Semifinal winners will square off for the conference championship on Saturday, November 8 at the site of the higher seed at a time to be announced.
