Women’s Soccer ready to take on Bowdoin in NCAA Tournament

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Soccer team is gearing up for its NCAA Tournament opening round game against Bowdoin College team Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.

The Hawks will travel to Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who will be the hosts of the Cambridge Regional for the tournament.

Roger Williams claimed its first Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship since 2012 with a thrilling 4-1 shootout win over Wentworth Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon. The Hawks' Kristin Tetreault score the game-tying goal with 21 seconds left in regulation to force overtime, where RWU ultimately came away with the win.

RWU enters the tournament unbeaten since September 6, having gone 15-0-4 in its last 19 games. The Hawks are ranked seventh in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III New England Women's Poll and sixth in the NCAA New England Regional Poll. Helping lead the way for the team is junior Mariah Kaiser, the CCC Offensive Player of the Year.

Bowdoin (12-4-0) will be making its third consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Bowdoin earned an at-large bid to the tournament and have advanced to the second round of the tournament in each of the last two seasons. The Polar Bears are coming off a 1-0 loss to Connecticut College in the NESCAC Semifinals. This will be the first-ever meeting between Bowdoin and Roger Williams.
