Box Score BEVERLY, Mass. — The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team notched its fourth straight Commonwealth Coast Conference win with a 7-2 victory over Gordon College on Tuesday afternoon.
Sophomore Zach Hall (Sugar Land, Texas) registered wins in both singles and doubles to account for the only points for Gordon on the day.
Roger Williams handled its business at second and third doubles. Zack Bussiere (Colchester, Conn.) and Eric Laboissonniere (Cumberland, R.I.) glided to an 8-2 victory at the second flight over Joe Daugherty (Norfolk, Va.) and Dan Christensen (Attleboro, Mass.) Tuesday marked only the second time the Gordon duo played together this season. Kyle Bull (Pleasantville, N.Y.) and Jonah Schwartz (Orange, Conn.) figured out Richie Armand (Hempstead, N.Y.) and Daniel Dufoe (Malvern, Pa.), 8-1.
Hall and honored senior Kenny Gaudio (Miller Place, N.Y.) played one of their best matches of the season together. The Scots' top team fought through a tight 8-5 match over Ryan Swanson and Taylor Webster to make it a 2-1 match heading into singles' play.
The Hawks got two quick points at second and third singles, but Hall gave the Scots their second point of the day with a straight-set win over Bussiere at first singles. Bussiere got the best of Hall a season ago, which made for sweet revenge for the defending rookie of the year in the CCC.
Armand fought hard with Swanson, but ultimately fell in straight sets—6-1, 6-4. Bull and Schwartz wrapped up with wins at fifth and sixth singles respectively.
Gordon returns to non-conference play on Thursday when they travel to Bridgewater State for a 3:30 match. The Scots finish their conference slate next week with important matches at Curry and at Wentworth.
