SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team will enter the upcoming Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament as the #2 seed and will receive a first-round bye.
Nichols College has claimed the top seed for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's tennis championship, which begins with quarterfinal matchups on campus sites Saturday, April 26. The Bison (19-1 overall) earned the top spot in the upcoming CCC tournament after posting a perfect 8-0 record in conference play.
Top-seeded Nichols and second-seeded Roger Williams University (13-4 overall, 7-1 CCC) will both receive byes in the tournament's quarterfinal round.
Two quarterfinal matches will be played on Saturday, April 26 at 12:00 p.m. Third-seeded Endicott College (8-7, 6-2) will host sixth-seeded Wentworth Institute of Technology (4-7, 3-5) in Beverly, Mass., while fourth-seeded Eastern Nazarene College (8-9, 5-3) will host fifth-seeded Western New England University (8-8, 4-4) in Quincy, Mass.
Winners of the two quarterfinal matches will advance to the semifinal round on Wednesday, April 30. Top-seeded Nichols will host the winner of the Eastern Nazarene vs. Western New England quarterfinal at Clark University in Worcester, Mass. at 3:00 p.m., while second-seeded Roger Williams will host the winner of the Endicott vs. Wentworth quarterfinal in Bristol, R.I. at 3:30 p.m.
Semifinal winners will square off for the conference championship on Saturday, May 3 at 1:00 p.m. at the site of the highest-remaining seed. The CCC tournament champion will earn an automatic berth in the upcoming 2014 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship.
