Men’s Tennis advances to CCC Championship Match

Box Score RIVERSIDE, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis will be making its seventh straight trip to the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship Match after defeating Endicott College 5-0 in the CCC Semifinals Wednesday afternoon.

Because of the rain, the match was moved indoors to Centre Court in Riverside. Despite the change in venue, the Hawks were still able to notch the victory.

The Hawks came away with two hard-fought victories at doubles play, with Ryan Swanson (West Newbury, Mass.) and Taylor Webster (Bristol, Conn.) edging Michael Dolph (Stratford, Conn.) and Evan Ross (Worcester, Mass.) 8-6 at #1. Jonah Schwartz (Orange, Conn.) and Eric Bott (Bethel, Conn.) pulled off a 9-7 win against Timothy Forance (Natick, Mass.) and Eric Gandrup (Sudbury, Mass.) at #3. Zack Bussiere (Colchester, Conn.) and Eric Laboissonniere (Cumberland, R.I.) had less of a struggle than the other two dobules matches at #2, winning 8-3 over Michael Lauretano (Winchester, Mass.) and Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.).

At singles play, Swanson picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win over Lauretano at the #5 flight, while Kyle Bull (Pleasantville, N.Y.) earned the clinching point for RWU, pulling off a 6-3, 7-6 (5) victory over Justin Warshavsky (East Hartford, Conn.) at #6. The Hawks ended the match while leading in the remaining four matches, as Bussiere, Laboissonniere, and Schwartz all had already won their first sets.

Roger Williams (14-4) will head to Nichols on Saturday for the championship match, whiel Endicott closes out the year at 9-8.
