Student-Athletes donate sneakers and backpacks to Bristol Good Neighbors

BRISTOL, R.I. – Teams from Roger Williams University were busy collecting gently worn shoes, sneakers, and backpacks this past week. The donations were presented to Rindy Sicard of the Bristol Good Neighbors Soup Kitchen and Day Shelter on Sunday between softball games.

The donations were taken as a kick off for NCAA Division III week and through an initiative between the Roger Williams University and Commonwealth Coast Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committees.

Team representatives from each sport were at the softball field to present the donation to Bristol Good Neighbors Board Member Rindy Sicard and Bristol Good Neighbors President Wendy Davis.

"Thanks to the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, the Bristol Good Neighbors Soup Kitchen and Day Shelter will be all set for a while with sneakers," Sicard stated. "The program was great and I loved going on the field, it was so much fun and what a great group of students."

Division III Week continues through Sunday, April 13th, and will feature more community service initiatives and unifying events for the student athletes.
