Roger Williams University recently hosted the Newport County YMCA Special Olympics team, also known as the "Sharks," for their annual "Athletes vs. Coaches/Family Game."
Â
The Special Olympics athletes and families played their annual game on the main court in the Campus Recreation Center. They were greeted by Roger Williams student-athletes, with a large fan section comprised of RWU student-athletes, families, and friends cheering them on throughout the contest.
Â
The Special Olympics athletes earned the victory in the game, but most importantly, a great time was had by all in attendance.
Â
"NCYMCA is host to 12 different Special Olympics teams and relies heavily on the support of the community," said Cori Kilzi, Associate Executive Director of the Newport County YMCA. "We are thrilled to consider RWU as a wonderful host and community partner."
Â
Roger Williams University Athletics thanks the Newport County YMCA for allowing the Department to be a part of such a great experience for the Special Olympics athletes and the RWU student-athletes.
