Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Women's Volleyball team rolled off its sixth straight win Friday evening with a 3-0 victory over Salve Regina University.
The Hawks took the first set 25-17 over Salve Regina, breaking a 9-9 tie with an 11-5 run to take a five point lead en route the win.
The second set saw the Seahawks score the first five points before the Hawks rallied. Similar to the first set, the Hawks went on another 11-5 run with the score tied at nine. RWU would take that set 25-19.
In the third set, the Seahawks jumped out to a 7-2 lead before RWU knotted the game at nine for a third straight time. Going along with the theme of the night, RWU used another 11-5 run to force a Seahawk timeout.
Elizabeth Flaherty (Sloatsburg, N.Y.) closed out the match with a kill to give RWU the 25-17 victory.
Flaherty led the Hawks with 12 kills, putting her one kill shy of 1,000 for her career.
Molly Quilty (Duxbury, Mass.) finished with 11 kills on .769 hitting (11-1-13) to go along with five blocks.
Nicole Weber (Poulsbo, Wash.) added 29 assists and five digs, while
Maria Batas (Merrick, N.Y.) led RWU with 11 digs.
Kat Mendes (New Bedford, Mass.) and Samantha Higgins (Coventry, R.I.) each finished with eight kills apiece for Salve Regina. Samantha Salwa (Ellington, Conn.) added 22 assists and three digs, while Chrissy Fraga (Milford, Mass.) notched five digs.
Roger Williams (13-7, 6-0 CCC) will take part in the Wellesley Invitational tomorrow, while Salve Regina (9-14, 3-2 CCC) travels to Curry on Tuesday.
