Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – Paul Brooks (Arlington, Mass.) led a trio of Worcester State players in double figures and the Lancers posted a 61-58 win over the Roger Williams University Men's Basketball team in the second game of the Clark University Alumni Holiday Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at the Kneller Athletic Center.
Brooks finished with 15 points, ten rebounds and six blocks in just 29 minutes for WSU, who improved to 6-5 overall with the win.
WSU led for more than 38 minutes of the contest after racing out to 14-5 lead early in the first half.
For the Hawks (4-5), meanwhile,
Austin Coene (Tyngsborough, Mass.) came off the bench and posted a double-double of his own, totaling 11 points and ten rebounds.
The Lancers controlled the interior from wire to wire, and with Brooks anchoring the backline, they outrebounded RWU 50-33, including 22 on the offensive glass.
In addition to Brooks, Bilal Shakir (Worcester, Mass.) added 14 points and freshman Alex Santos (Lawrence, Mass.) chipped in with 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Nick Marini (Loudonville, N.Y.) was the only other Hawk in double figures, registering ten points, while
Jaylen Jennings (Norwalk, Conn.) came off the bench and contributed seven points, four rebounds and two steals.
Both teams are back in action on Wednesday with Worcester State facing Wentworth at 12:00 p.m. and Roger Williams taking on the host Cougars at 2:00 p.m.
