Wrestling to host Pilgrim League showdown with in-state rival JWU

BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Wrestling team will host a Pilgrim League Showdown with in-state rival Johnson & Wales.

The teams met earlier in the season in Springfield, Mass. for the championship of the New England Wrestling Association Dual Meet on January 24, 2015 with the Hwaks taking home a 24-15 victory. Intermatwrestling.com ranks the Hawks #14 in the nation and the Wildcats sit at #15, while the NEWA Coaches poll has RWU at #1 and JWU at #2 in the region.

Both teams enter the event an undefeated 3-0 in Pilgrim League action. The season finale will feature a dozen athletes ranked individually in the top three at their respective weight classes within the region and three wrestlers ranked in the top 10 nationally including JWU senior Michael Ferinde (#7 - 141 lbs) and pair a RWU juniors, Francisco Colom (#7 - 165 lbs.) and David Welch (#4 - 197 lbs.).

The contest will be held in Bristol, R.I. Friday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m. in the Main Gym located on the RWU Campus inside the Recreation Center or you can watch it live online (click here).
