Box Score DUDLEY, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Women's Volleyball team handed Nichols College a 3-0 loss Friday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Nichols Athletic Center.
Freshman J'ena Baker (Rockledge, Fla.) recorded a team-high nine kills. Sophomore Sarah Boermeester (Billerica, Mass.) collected six kills, freshman Megan Gardner (South Deerfield, Mass.) handed out 15 assists, and both Baker and classmate Jayla Simmons (Rockledge, Fla.) notched nine digs. Senior Monica Pucko (Gardner, Mass.) was honored before the match, the team's final home contest of the season.
Sophomore
Jill McManaman (Bellerose Village, N.Y.) and freshman
Grace Kenningham (Houston, Texas) led the Hawks with nine kills each; McManaman posted a .786 hitting pct. while Kenningham hit at a .579 clip. Freshman Emily Melillo (Kenmore, Wash.) registered 34 assists.
The Hawks won game one 25-7, game two 25-12, and game three 25-11.
Today's match marked the first-ever meeting between Nichols College and Roger Williams University. The Hawks now lead the series, 1-0.
Nichols (5-19, 0-9 CCC) will play Massachusetts Maritime (1:00 p.m.) & @ Westfield St. (3:00 p.m.) tomorrow. Roger Williams (17-7, 8-1 CCC) faces Brandeis (12:00 p.m.) & Babson (2:00 p.m.) tomorrow as well.
