Box Score NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University had their six-game win streak snapped by the Roger Williams University Women's Volleyball team in a 3-1 (25-23, 25-21, 17-25, 25-21) defeat in the first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match of the season.

This was the 25th meeting between the teams and the hawks now own a 23-2 record in the all-time series, and have won the last four meetings.

Roger Williams senior
Kristen Boyer (Ephrata, Pa.) had a match-high 18 kills to go with 14 digs and a service ace.
Molly Quilty (Duxbury, Mass.) had 12 kills and seven blocks, six solo.

Salve Regina sophomore Cassidy Trablicy (Phoenix, Ariz.) led the Seahawks with 15 kills along with 12 digs, and two blocks, one solo.

The Seahawks trailed 8-1 in the first set but battled back to only lose 25-23. The team carried that momentum into the second set and led 12-8 forcing a timeout from Roger Williams. The Hawks scored five straight points out of the timeout to take the lead, and embarked on a 17-9 run to take the second set and a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.

The Hawks actually committed more errors than the Seahawks, 28-26, however the Seahawks came at untimely spots in the match, twice giving the deciding set point to the Hawks on errors, in both the second and final sets.

Salve Regina had four players in double digit digs. Samantha Salwa (Ellington, Conn.)led the Seahawks with 24 digs, followed by Megan Parham (Tulsa, Okla.) with 22,Morgan VanderBaan (Douglas, Mass.) with 13, and Trablicy with 12.

The Hawks had three players in double digit digs.
Maria Batas (Merrick, N.Y.) led all players with 25, while
Meghan Chartier (Palatine, Ill.) collected 23, and Boyer registered 14.

Salwa totaled 45 assists as the primary setter for the Seahawks while
Julia Fields (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) had 52 helpers for Roger Williams.

Next up, Salve Regina (8-4, 0-1 CCC) will be at Endicot on Saturday, September 24, while Roger Williams (6-4, 1-0 CCC) heads to Eastern Nazarene on Saturday as well.
